Independent Ownership and Service Guide

Service Guidance for Canadian Choice Windows

Start with the original warranty and installer when coverage may apply. For older or out-of-warranty windows, document the exact failure before choosing independent repair or replacement.

Keep the original supply and installation records connected

Canadian Choice is a branded window and installation offering. If your windows are relatively recent, the party named on the contract should be the first contact for a suspected manufacturing or installation defect. Coverage, service process and exclusions are controlled by those documents—not by this page.

When coverage has ended, Windows Hamilton can evaluate the installed opening as a collection of components. Failed insulated glass, damaged screens and certain operational issues may be repair candidates when the sash and frame remain suitable.

We are independent from Canadian Choice and do not present ourselves as its warranty administrator or an authorized source for proprietary loose parts. Our service process begins with the physical condition of the window and the scope that can be responsibly completed.

Build a Clear Service Record

Identify whether the concern is product, installation or normal wear

The timing and location of a symptom help determine who should review it and what evidence to preserve.

Problem appeared during coverage

Photograph the condition and contact the named seller or installer before third-party alterations affect the evidence or warranty process.

One pane is foggy

Moisture between panes may be limited to one insulated unit. Record the affected sash, glass markings and whether the rest of the window operates well.

Draft or water surrounds the frame

Perimeter air or rain entry can relate to installation, exterior seals or the wall opening. A new glass unit alone does not address those paths.

Choose the Responsible Service Channel

Coverage status changes the next step

Original provider first

The contract may still respond

A current warranty claim should begin with the named provider so it can document the issue and authorize work under its terms.

  • Keep serial labels and order numbers
  • Do not dismantle the window prematurely
  • Ask who covers labour and finishing
Independent assessment

Coverage has ended or does not apply

Windows Hamilton can then assess repairable glass, operation and screens without claiming to provide the manufacturer’s proprietary warranty service.

  • Confirm frame condition first
  • Compare component work with replacement
  • Document the new scope and warranty separately

Do Not Lose the Product Identity

Photograph labels before they disappear

Brand, order and glass markings may be found on labels, spacer bars or concealed sash edges. Photograph them while they remain legible. They can help the original provider locate an order and help an independent technician understand the construction.

The label does not substitute for field measurement. Replacement glass and screens must fit the installed opening, and operational repairs depend on the exact geometry and condition of the existing components.

Windows Hamilton is an independent service business and is not presented as the manufacturer, an authorized dealer or the warranty administrator for Canadian Choice Windows. Brand and product names belong to their respective owners.

Organize the First Contact

Information that speeds up triage

Original contract and installation date

Confirm who supplied and installed the windows and whether a transferable warranty or service plan was documented.

Product and glass labels

Photograph stickers, etched logos and spacer printing without removing the sash or sealed unit.

A photo of every affected window

Show complete openings and mark which specific pane, sash or screen has the problem.

The failed action

Describe whether the issue is fogging, locking, cranking, sliding, water entry, draft or damaged screening.

Use the Right Channel the First Time

Have Canadian Choice windows that need attention?

Check the original coverage first. If independent service is appropriate, send Windows Hamilton the contract date, labels, full-window photos and a precise description of the symptom. We will distinguish sealed glass, operation, screening and full replacement needs.
